Final Essay(:
South Central is very different today;; compared how it was back in the days. One thing that is good about south central;; is the schools around here and kids can get a good education. What should improve from south central is the drugs;; because each day there is more and more young kids doing drugs. Overall i do like living in south central because i am already use to it since i been living here since i was born. i also like going to school in south central.
The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central LA;; what it is today are Watts Riots, LA Riots, and Gang History.
The first event that has made South Central what it is today is;; Watts Riots. It is important because many damages happened in this event. What i know about this even is that many people were involved in this riot and it got out of control. It started off because of Marquette Frye failed a sobriety test;; and the officer told him that he was going to be arrested for drunk driving and his car would be towed away. Marquette’s mother had gotten their and also got arrested. Many people Found out and started a big drama out of a little thing and that’s when it led to the big riot they had in LA. I chose this topic because it is important for people to know why did the riots start also how did it start.
The second even that has made South Central what it is today is;; the LA Riots. It is important because many these riots were being made without being planned. What i know about this event is that Many innocent people were either tried to be killed or were actually killed. It started off because Rodney King was severely beaten by the police. The police proceeded the beaten for about 15 minutes. They had left him in really bad conditions. They were caught on tape and they were still not found guilty. Also this young black girl name Latasha Harlins was killed by this liquor owner. She was killed supposelly because she had stoled an orange juice;; but she was actually gonna pay for it and that’s when she got shot. The reason why i chose this topic was because many sad events happened during this time.
The third event that has made South Central what it is today is;; Gang History. It is important because these gangs were actually formed to be a good group of people but they have actually changed through out the years. It all started off by the White Gangs in the 1940’s. They were mostly on Huntington Park, Bell, South Gate, Inglewood, ans West LA. They would act like if they were protection for the Black and Latino neighborhoods. But at the same time they would seek out Blacks And Latinos and harass them or beat them up. The reason why i chose this topic was because it was really important how they started off.
These were the most important topics that created South Central LA. It taught us about how it started off peoples lives. It has actually changed allot, and i am sure it will keep on changing. It has taught many people what South Central is like and how people make it. The way South Central would change in the future is by either getting worster or better. So this is what i think about South Central LA.
